Utricularia cornigera is a rare large heart shaped leafed, epiphytic bladderwort from Brazil. Prefers a very airy mix of long leaf sphagnum moss and perlite, pumice, or lava rock. Leaf diameters may reach hand size.
It can grow in wet nutrient poor soil and is very sought after by collectors. Produces purple orchid like flowers.
Utricularia, are commonly and collectively called Bladderworts. Tropical Bladderworts love warm temperatures, bright light, and lots of water. All Utricularia are carnivorous and capture small organisms by means of bladder-like traps along the roots. While there is little action happening amongst the foliage above, all the action is happening below the soil surface. Many Bladderworts are collected simply for their miniature orchid like flowers.
Climate: Tropical conditions.

Utricularia Basic Care
- Fertilizer: NO FERTILIZERS at the root. Infusoria, and tiny bugs are the best fertilizer. A small amount of aqusoil mixed into the pot may help.
- Soil: 50% perlite, and 50% long-fiber sphagnum moss, topped with live sphagnum moss. Additionally, Lava, or pumice may be also used to keep the mixture somewhat airy. No potting soil.
- Light: Partially Shaded to full sun. Bright white LED grow light 4000K or full sunlight for carnivorous plants. South Windows can be great places to grow carnivorous plants.
- Temperature: 65-85F

- Keep their LFS soil mix moist not soaking wet.
- Dormancy: Tropical Plants do not have a true dormancy.
